In the coming weeks, Reba Place Church leaders and Racial Justice Team members will be leading our church in conversations and activities to prepare those who are interested in participating in the No Kings Rallies. There are rallies scheduled for Sat, Mar 28, both in Evanston and downtown Chicago. We will be discussing our reasons for doing this as a church, how to be part of a peaceful protest, and why we are using messages on our posters that proclaim our Mennonite values (e.g. peace, love, justice). Both rallies/protests will continue the non-violent approach to protests. Leaders and guides will be present at both events. We hope you can join in with the following...
Sun, Mar 15: Resistance Singing! During worship, Cassidhe Hart, Laura Wallace, and the Praise Team will teach us some Resistance Songs that will be sung at the Evanston protest. If you're able, plan to stick around to learn additional songs from 11:30 am until about 12:15 pm!
Sun, Mar 22: Poster Making! Materials will be available for individuals, families, and groups to create their own posters to use at the No Kings protests. If you'd like to bring your own poster board, cardboard, etc., you are very welcome! Light snacks will be available.
Sat, Mar 28: No Kings Protests! Evanston event @ 10:30 am; Chicago event @ 1:30 pm. More details to come about where and when to gather for attending each event.
