JourneyCare's Maureen Burns, Community Health Worker, recently presented an excellent workshop for our community on the topic of "The Five Wishes." Those who participated felt it was a great and valuable time of learning and growing together. JourneyCare is a local nonprofit that provides free community education, linking patients and loved ones to resources within their community.
Maureen will return on Thurs, March 31 at 7:00 pm to offer another excellent workshop via Zoom: Hospice 101: Understanding Hospice and Palliative Care, and their Benefits. She explains that hospice care is one of the most unique and robust types of care covered under Medicare. However, many people don’t know much about this type of care. This workshop will describe what hospice is, who is eligible, who pays for care, and what services are included. She will also discuss common misconceptions about hospice care and how lived experiences influence people’s care decisions. Learn all that hospice has to offer and how it can look different for each individual. Please mark you calendar to join this virtual event!
If you are especially interested in hearing about a particular topic from JourneyCare in the future, please reach out to Julie in the Church Office. Possible topics that could be presented to our community include: coping with grief & loss, topics around aging & dying, public health, care-giving, cancer, and more. These workshops can be an enriching time for our community as we learn to love and support our families, ourselves, and our neighbors.
