Mary Goering, RPC member, has been on a 40-day camping demonstration in support of the Apache Stronghold in Arizona. The Apache Stronghold organization is Protecting a Sacred Site from a Massive Copper Mine. She and at least one other person stay on the land in a popup camper. She spends time walking in prayer and interacting with visitors.
Mary requests prayer for: 1) being able to walk on the rocky, rough terrain without injuring herself, 2) that the Supreme Court would hear this case with respect and understanding, 3) for a family on the Apache Reservation that recently had a teenage daughter murdered, and 4) that Mary would continue to have good relationships with the partner that stays with her. Mary will return home on April 2nd.
Of the land, Mary shares that "Oak Flat is beautiful! I have greatly enjoyed taking daily prayer walks around the area, which features mountains, canyons and desert. Coyote serenade us most evenings and we spotted a javelina (and heard more) near the edge of camp. We set out a can of water for birds in the morning which is very popular because the area is in severe drought. Our regular customers are towhee, cardinal, Mexican Jay, woodpeckers, northern flicker and mockingbird."
