Dear Reba Community,
Our elder member, sister, friend Hilda Weber Carper passed peacefully to be with Jesus last night (Weds 12/22) at 9:10pm. For the last several days of her dying process she has been surrounded with loved ones who sang and prayed and shared with her. And she was accompanied at the very end by Char Oda and former Reba member Michelle Lazar.
Hilda chose to donate her body for scientific research so there will not be an immediate funeral. There will certainly be a memorial service. We will let folks know the details when the plans have been made.
Please keep Hilda's sister, Jean Miller, as well as all the residents of her household, The Clearing, and the many folks who were close to Hilda, in your prayers.
We can give thanks for Hilda's significant contribution to the shelter in Evanston which now bears her name, Hilda's Place, and for her founding of what is now the Reba Early Learning Center. We rejoice in her 94 years as Jesus' disciple, and her peaceful transition on to her next adventure with him.
May the peace of Christ be with us all,
