Getting a Visitor

Our volunteer visitors are all ages and come from all walks of life. Volunteers are from Northwestern University as well as people from our neighborhoods and churches - even moms with babies like to visit.

If you are interested in getting a Senior Connections visitor, just call us at 847.869.0682 or email at wevisitseniors@gmail.com to make an appointment for us to visit you at your home. Senior Connections staff, Ellen and Wendy, will come to tell you about the program and how it works and give you a chance to ask questions. If you find you like the idea, we'll also take time to hear about YOU: your growing up years, where you were born, who was in your family, school, job, marriage, interests...things like that!

At our volunteer training, we share a brief biography of each senior's life so that the volunteer visitor can choose the senior they're interested in meeting. When you are chosen, we call you to tell you the good news, and set up a time to personally introduce the volunteer to you. At the introduction, we'll talk about what you might like to do together and the best time and day to meet.

That's all there is to it! Sometimes it takes a while to find just the right match, but it's worth the wait! Senior Connections staff will check in from time to time to see how your new friendship is going, to invite you to various events, and to address any concerns that may arise.
